Quincy Ride May 11

Sunday morning May 11th Sacramento Road Cruisers hosted a ride with the Southern Cruisers Riding Club with a ride to Quincy. The group consisted of Sparky and Rick Brown from SRC and Jacques K., Mike and Dee, Rick and Melanie, Bob and Diane, Red Beard, Michelle, Rick and Hoppy from SCRC. Once the group was ready we went over the hand signals and formation instructions we were off and running.

With Sparky in the lead and Rick Brown pulling sweep with Jacques we jumped on the Hwy 80 then to 65 and Lincoln. The road was great temp was just right we made every light to Marysville and of course the light that we had to stop at is the left turn in town.

We then headed north to Oroville for fuel and rest. We lost Hoppy as his back was hurting so he bid up a farewell and headed for home as we continued to Oroville.

With fuel and everybody ready to ride we headed up Hwy 70 to Scooters to pick up one of the Rick's before starting the canyon. With all riders ready we headed down the canyon and on to Quincy. We were able for the most part to run at 5 under all the way up the canyon in single file this group looked good. I later found out that some of the riders had never ridden through a tunnel. Cool we had a first on the ride.

Once in Quincy we fueled up and then on to the Morning Thunder Café for lunch. Always the place to go in Quincy.

With our bellies full and ready to ride we took a group shot and then on the road to Grey Eagle where we made a short stop to verify that the Gold Lakes road was open and it was so off we go again. All the streams we running and there were lakes that I have never seen up there before probably be gone next time we go that way). There was some snow at the top along the road still and the temp was not a cool as I expected but still better than what we will run into in the valley. The view of the mountains with snow still on them was quite the site all the way down to Hwy 49 and on to Downeyville for our last stop of the day.

Rick Browns daughter had gotten out of the hospital (tonsils) so he left ahead of us to get home. Rick hope she is feeling better and thanks for the sweep.

Once we rounded up the group is was down the road to home. For the most part the group held together real good coming down the Yuba canyon but coming back up they started to string out. Once on top the group formed up again and we headed to Nevada City, Grass Valley and into Auburn were the SCRC made one more stop for the day and I headed on to home.

All in all it was a great day for a ride with a great group. Thanks for a good ride and you are welcome to join us anytime.

Until next time ride safe

IronStone Winery ride March 1

Let me start with this is going to be a cold ride and I was not wrong as we did not get out of our cold gear all day as you can tell by the pics.

With Alan, Wayne and his buddy Eric, and Sparky with his daughter Barbara we headed for the Ironstone Winery in Murphy's for lunch.

As always this is a very scenic ride but when it is cold you just don’t seem to pay attention to the scenery and more on the road and how warm you are.

We left from the IHOP in Folsom and headed to Ione by way of the Latrobe road to hwy 16 then Willow Creek road and into Ione. With a short stop in Ione we headed for the second stop of the day at Valley Springs.

I took the crew to Camanche Lake and over Pardee dam which is always a nice view.

After a short break and we headed up hwy 12 to Angels camp and up the Murphy's Grade (nice road). And then into the Winery.

The group milled around checking out the Daffodil festival that they have every year about this time.

After a good lunch (and for those who have not done this ride they have great food there and all than wine). We headed home by way of Hwy 49 back to 16 then Latrobe rd. We parted ways in Folsom.

Once again a great ride.

Till next time ride safe.
