May 21 Quincy Ride May 11Sunday morning May 11th Sacramento Road Cruisers hosted a ride with the Southern Cruisers Riding Club with a ride to Quincy. The group consisted of Sparky and Rick Brown from SRC and Jacques K., Mike and Dee, Rick and Melanie, Bob and Diane, Red Beard, Michelle, Rick and Hoppy from SCRC. Once the group was ready we went over the hand signals and formation instructions we were off and running. With Sparky in the lead and Rick Brown pulling sweep with Jacques we jumped on the Hwy 80 then to 65 and Lincoln. The road was great temp was just right we made every light to Marysville and of course the light that we had to stop at is the left turn in town. We then headed north to Oroville for fuel and rest. We lost Hoppy as his back was hurting so he bid up a farewell and headed for home as we continued to Oroville. With fuel and everybody ready to ride we headed up Hwy 70 to Scooters to pick up one of the Rick's before starting the canyon. With all riders ready we headed down the canyon and on to Quincy. We were able for the most part to run at 5 under all the way up the canyon in single file this group looked good. I later found out that some of the riders had never ridden through a tunnel. Cool we had a first on the ride. Once in Quincy we fueled up and then on to the Morning Thunder Café for lunch. Always the place to go in Quincy. With our bellies full and ready to ride we took a group shot and then on the road to Grey Eagle where we made a short stop to verify that the Gold Lakes road was open and it was so off we go again. All the streams we running and there were lakes that I have never seen up there before probably be gone next time we go that way). There was some snow at the top along the road still and the temp was not a cool as I expected but still better than what we will run into in the valley. The view of the mountains with snow still on them was quite the site all the way down to Hwy 49 and on to Downeyville for our last stop of the day. Rick Browns daughter had gotten out of the hospital (tonsils) so he left ahead of us to get home. Rick hope she is feeling better and thanks for the sweep. Once we rounded up the group is was down the road to home. For the most part the group held together real good coming down the Yuba canyon but coming back up they started to string out. Once on top the group formed up again and we headed to Nevada City, Grass Valley and into Auburn were the SCRC made one more stop for the day and I headed on to home. All in all it was a great day for a ride with a great group. Thanks for a good ride and you are welcome to join us anytime. Until next time ride safe May 04 IronStone Winery ride March 1Let me start with this is going to be a cold ride and I was not wrong as we did not get out of our cold gear all day as you can tell by the pics. With Alan, Wayne and his buddy Eric, and Sparky with his daughter Barbara we headed for the Ironstone Winery in Murphy's for lunch. As always this is a very scenic ride but when it is cold you just don’t seem to pay attention to the scenery and more on the road and how warm you are. We left from the IHOP in Folsom and headed to Ione by way of the Latrobe road to hwy 16 then Willow Creek road and into Ione. With a short stop in Ione we headed for the second stop of the day at Valley Springs. I took the crew to Camanche Lake and over Pardee dam which is always a nice view. After a short break and we headed up hwy 12 to Angels camp and up the Murphy's Grade (nice road). And then into the Winery. The group milled around checking out the Daffodil festival that they have every year about this time. After a good lunch (and for those who have not done this ride they have great food there and all than wine). We headed home by way of Hwy 49 back to 16 then Latrobe rd. We parted ways in Folsom. Once again a great ride. Till next time ride safe. Keep the shiny side up and the rubber side down February 12 River Ride to Fosters in Rio VistaJohn Cox, Stew, Rick & Beth, Sparky and his daughter Brandy met at Lyon's for breakfast. The group took a lazy ride down the river. We Criss crossed the river trying to cross every bridge. I think I missed 1. As we reached Rio Vista a Freighter was passing thru on his way to the bay. This of course had traffic backed up for a while so we pulled over and shut down the bikes until the traffic cleared. Even with this delay we got into Rio Vista a wee bit early for lunch. So we hung out for a while before heading to Fosters for lunch. The lunch was as always good and the service prompt. With meals consumed and good conversation continuing out the door to was time to hit the pavement and head ourselves home. So we headed out of town and on to the ferry's and the bridges that we all love when running the river. And as usual we had at least one person who had never been on these ferry's. The group made it back to Freeport when John dropped off to head his way home, Other went on down Freeport Blvd and to home while Sparky hit the Hyw. It was a good PMS ride as those who went were ready for riding. Till next time Keep the shiny side up and the rubber side downJanuary 02 New Years DAy RideWhat a day for a ride. Yes it did start out cold but the day warmed up to be warmer than the morning. John Cox, Nick, Stew, Frank W., Rick and Beth all showed up for breakfast and John Flovin and his son Scott, Allen showed up as we finished our breakfast. So with 8 bikes ready to roll we headed out I-5 to woodland where we set into a nice pace for the day. The course took us out Hwy 16 to Hwy 20. Our first stop of the day was at the Cache Creek Casino. After a short break it was on the road again. We headed to Hwy 20 and made our way to Clear Lake Oaks. Once at Clear Lake Oaks the group grew smaller by with John Cox, Nick and Stew heading back as they had time issues to be met. We said our goodbyes and requested that John send me an email or leave a voice mail so I knew the got home ok. With that the remaining group headed for Hwy 53 then to 29 down to Calistoga. Now originally I want to take everyone to play on Cob Mtn but time did not allow so we tried to get some food and found everyone closed (go figure New Years day). So the group headed for Turtle Cove to find that this bar is also closed for the day. It figures for the day. With that it was head to Winters so that Allen could fuel up. Once in Winters the group all went the own way. Good ride with good friends what more can you ask for (FOOD lol) Till next time

August 01 La Porte Picnic Ride ReportIt was a beautiful day for a ride and have a picnic. With Rich B., Frank M and his passenger Sue in tow sparky went looking for a little adventure before the picnic.
We left Carrows at 9 and headed up Hwy 80 to Hwy 49 and parts unexplored (we later found out why). We made the stop at Higgins corner for the first break. Then proceeded down Wolf rd to Lime Kiln Rd to Indian Springs to Pleasant Valley and then back onto Hwy 49. We made a stop at the covered bridge for a nice stretch of the legs.
Now this next turn is a little tricky as you can only see it come down from Downeyville. So we made the first of several turn a round’s to find this road. Once you find For 47 (actual name) also known as Pendola Rd and this is where the adventure begins.
This merry little band of bikers head down a road that for the most part is a one lane road. But you get the feeling like you are riding down a path lined with trees and bushes encroaching on the road. Now this makes for a very pretty site but the road was rough. This kept the speed down to about 20 through the minefield of potholes, dirt and rocks on the roadway at every intersection (all connecting roads are dirt). About 7 miles in the road opened up to about 2 lanes and then it was dirt. So back out we went and headed for Marysville Rd. I tried a couple more and they also were either dirt or very rough roads. We made the turn onto Oregon Hill Rd and it was strait up to La Porte. With a short stop in La Porte we then made our way to the Little Grass Valley Res. We found a very nice spot to have our lunch.
Someone had spent some time creating this hill. The hill had been cut then log headers were laid in creating an area for tents at the top and then a fire pit level. The log made for a great seat for the view.
After the Picnic Lunch we decided we would follow the La Porte Quincy Hwy over to Quincy and down the Feather River Canyon and into home.
This route is one of the many great sites you can find in Northern California. From La Porte you turn onto the La Porte Quincy Hwy. You start on what seems to be a ride through the trees type road and you turn the corner and you are at the top of a mountain and you are riding the ridge down to Quincy, and just as you are getting the revs going you have to back out because you also are sharing this road with bicyclists. Once you get beyond the bicyclists you drop down to Quincy. We fueled up in Quincy and it was down the river to Oroville then to Marysville where Rich took 65 to home and with honks and waves frank and I took 70. At Elverta Rd I headed for the barn. Frank and Sue headed there way.
Folks you missed a great ride and a lot of fun. We will do this again with out the adventure.
